WEBX members Nicky and Andy from Not Just Travel - Let's Go, have been working to support their clients over the past 2 days in the wake of the closure of Thomas Cook.
Here's an update from Nicky and Andy;
"We have both been extremely busy the last 2 days not only dealing with our customers who have been affected by the sad events that have happened but local people, whose holidays were also affected.
Our first company update came by video yesterday at 5am with a full plan in place by our amazing head office, with the team in at 2.30am to get everything finalised after having full instructions from The CAA.
By 6.30am we were talking to our first customers in resort due to fly home that day on a holiday we had packaged with TC flights. Funnily enough they were also our last customers we had contact with at 11pm last night to confirm they were on their repatriation flight to come home.
By mid morning we had spoken to everyone even rebooking holidays for some customers which was made harder by TUI being overrun so no internet and 2 hour calls to get holidays rebooked.
We were amazed by the speed of our suppliers with TC flights as part of the package in their response to yesterday.
By mid afternoon all customers had new flight options with customers switching from Bristol to Luton and another finalised this evening from Manchester to Heathrow. Only one customer cancelled as the alternative option was not suitable for the family circumstances but there is a full refund on the way.
No money was lost by anyone due to us only packaging holidays with ABTA and ATOL protection.
The last 48 hours have shown why in no doubt using a personal travel consultant is vital when planning a holiday.
